The Cultural Association IONES after the 10th World festival of traditional dances , organizes the K΄POSEIDONIA 2015
In previous 10 years the associations has organized 10 folk dance festivals
And 3 Children festivals. More than 380 groups and more than 13000
Artists from Greece and all over world participate in the previous editions. In 2015 the association during the celebration of Κ’ POSEIDONIA 2015
ORGANIZES the 11th INTERNATIONAL FOLK DANCE FESTIVAL
Terms of the International Folk Dance Festival
1.PLACE OF THE FESTIVAL
Nikoleika is a touristic place of Egialia Municipality in West Greece. It is near the sea. It is 7klm far from Egio (the capital of the Municipality), 30klm from Patras (one of the biggest Greek cities and very important port) and 165km far from the capital Athens.
2.PARTICIPATION Dancers must be over 17 years old.
The accommodation and the meals(breakfast-lunch or dinner)are our responsibility and it will be at tourist hotels next to the beach RODINI or hotel Florida Blue Bay Resort & Spa or hotel Themisto for 30 PERSONS, no more including dancers-musicians- drivers- etc

The festival will have competitive character. Groups will be judged by Jury and by the public. The following
For the 1st place in each category money award will be given (The exact amount will be announced soon). Award categories may be added by jury. Groups that do not want to take place in the competition programme can be accepted after agreement and will not be judged. 5.TRAVEL COSTS Travel expenses up from Airport to Aigio will be our responsibility
6.EXCURSIONS Excursions can be organized in nearby interesting and historic places, at your own cost. Among them we would like to mention:

The association celebrates 10 years WORLD FESTIVALS TRADITIONAL DANCES This year organizes the I΄ POSIDONIA 2014 In previous 9 years the associations has organized 9 Folk Festivals and 3 Children festivals. More than 350 groups and more than 11000 artists from Greece and all over the world participated in the previous editions. In 2014 the association during the celebration of I΄ POSIDONIA 2014 ORGANIZES 2 nd CHOIR FESTIVAL ΄΄GEORGE PAPPAS΄΄ 2/8-5/8/2014 terms of the International Choir Festival 1.PLACE OF THE FESTIVAL NIKOLEIKA NIKOLEIKA is a touristic place of Egialia Municipality. 2.PARTICIPATION ü There is no age limit ü All choirs children, youth, adult male and female can take part . ü Groups must be maximum 30 persons (more participants can be accepted after agreement) . CONCERTS The group must prepare the following ü 2 songs (no more than 10 minutes) of folk music of the country of choir ‘s origin for the opening ceremony ü 6 songs (no more than 20 minutes) of free choice of the choir for the main performance 3. GIFT EXCHANGES In each group local products, plackets and dipolomas will be given. Dvd of the festival will be sent to you too. 4.ACCOMODATION Accomodation will take place in 3star hotel 30m from the sea.
5.TRAVEL COSTS Travel expenses up to Nikoleika will be at your own cost 6.ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE ü Your group must arrive in Nikoleika at 2/8/2013 between 09.00 --14.00 ü Departure will take place on 5/8/2013 after breakfast. For groups that will stay less days arrival and departure will be arranged after agreement. 7.EXCURSIONS Excursions can be organized in nearby interesting and historic places, at your own cost. EPIDAVRUS ANCIENT OLYMPIA RIO BRIDGE

The cultural and educational ensemble "IONES" was founded in 2003. It counts 165 founding members. Among the purposes of this ensemble is the help and the contribution to the search for Ancient Eliki, capital city of the Achaic Union that was entirely destructed in 373 B.C. by a tsounami. After excavations that lasted 20 years by foreign and Greek archeologists, it has been pointed out, and it is a matter of time the appearence of the city on the surface. In 2006 it organized the 1st Achaic Child Festival of Folkloric Dances, with the participation of 500 children. In July of the same year, it organized with a big success the 2nd World Festival of Folkloric Dances with 38 participating groups from Greece and all over the world. We achieved fraternity with the Swedish ensemble of friends of Greece HELLAS VARNER with the presence of the Paraolympic winner of 2 golden medals in horse riding in 2004, IKENE 8EETENOKEN. For our ensemble, the great bet is for the year 2008, which means the organization of 2 great cultural events. The headquarters of our ensemble are located in the municipality of Diakopto, with amazing locations that combine sea and mountain and give the opportunity for tourism and wonderful vacation. The place of action of our ensemble is located in a touristic region, Eliki, in the municipality of Diakopto. An important archaeological site worth visiting is also Ancient Eliki.. The remnants of the ancient city of Eliki which sank to the Korinthian. Gulf during the terrible earthquake of 373 A.D fascinate visitors .After 5 Km There is the Agio. Agio is a city with very long history. According to tradition, the name of the city is linked to the name of the city is linked to the Goat that nurtured Zeus. It used to be a religious and political centre of Achaean Commonwealth in the history times. Remnants of the ancient world are preserved today attracting visitors to the Mycenean Cemetary,and a bulding from Classic Period which includes a part of public bulding of the 4th century. East of Eliki there is the town of Diakopto, so to board on the famous Rack railway and enjoy a memorable ride through the natural beauty of Voracious Canyon and reach historic Kalavryta. The ride on the Rack Railway lasts approximately 70 minutes, wich is enough time to feel awe.Do not worry, the ride iwith the Rack Railway is safe,three have never been any accidents since it began in 1896..Besides ,the view while crossing Vouraikos Canyon will compensate the fear it evokes.While admiring the view ,Keep in mind that according to legend it was made by Hercules ,who cut the mountain in two naives with his sword. Touring the religious sites of the area includes The historic Monastery of Aghia Lavra ,founded in 961 AD located to the west of Kalavryta at a distance of 6 Km from the town. There are invaluable relics in the monastery such as the Banner of the revolution of 1821 which marked the beginning of the revolution to the enslaved Greeks. Holy Monastery of Mega Spileo (Grand Cave) tounded in 362 AD end one of the oldest and most historic monasteries in Hellas. It is 1 Km away from the city of Kalavryta at an altitude of 924 metres. There are a lot of relics and scripts Kept in the monastery, the most valuable possession being the icon of Virgin Mary which was made by Luke the Apostle. Winter sports funs will surely be thrilled with the ski resort at Kalabryta ,which is built in the area called Xirokabos (14 Km away from Kalavryta)with some of the best ski slopes in Greece. The (Cave Lakes) is also worth seing as it offeres a sight you have never seen before .You will be literally enchanted .It is located near the village Kastria,17 Km away from Kalavryta. This rare cave is naturally made ,with beautiful colours ,a variety of stalactite formations, labyrinthine corridors and 13 successive terraced lakes which make it unique. From our place, someone could visit the archeological sites of DELPHOI- OLYMPIA- KORINTHOS- MYKINES- EPIDAURUS, with amazing archeological findings. After 165 km the capital city of Greece, Athens is located, and it is full of archeological findings, too(Akropolis- Parthenon etc.) |
